Paris Vs Barcelona: Why Paris is Better
In Europe, Paris and Barcelona stand out among major European cities. They both have rich histories, cultures, and architecture- choosing the one to visit may be one of the most difficult decisions to make. Even though the city of Barcelona offers a unique experience, Paris has always rank highest for tourists. It is incredibly scenic and a fashion hub comprising of some of the biggest brands in the industry.
Barcelona is known for its brilliant museums, the Barri Gotic, lively neighborhoods, and its modernist architecture. It boasts of the Sagrada Familia, a church every visitor should see. The charm of the city is mainly its strong culture as Barcelona is brimming with life. If you happen to visit there, you should try its tapas and cocktails as they are wonderful. Paris and Barcelona are great destinations for holidays but personally, I believe Paris is better.
Here Is Why Paris Is Better Than Barcelona:
Local Attractions
The French capital is fondly called the City of Love (and City of Lights) for its romantic décor and setup. But the city has more for visitors, including children. One of these is the spectacular views of monuments like the Eiffel Tower. Barcelona has many local attractions too. Barcelona is cheaper than Paris, and there are more alternatives for affordable accommodation, shopping, and food. But the city is less impressive than Paris. It hardly has great views of landmarks like its French counterpart.
The Most Iconic Monuments and Buildings
Not by much, but Paris has more interesting iconic buildings and monuments than Barcelona. Most major cities in Europe and North America have a decent number of monuments, but no one comes close to the French capital. A walking tour starting at the Champs Elysees close to the Arc de Triomphe will lead visitors to the eternally romantic Eiffel Tower.
Must-see attractions in Paris are much, and they deliver on their promise. It is no surprise that tourists come in their droves to these places and engage their allure. Barcelona has its fair share of iconic structures too. Its architecture is great, and many of its buildings and monuments were designed by Antoni Gaudi. Visitors will find it fascinating that most architectural works in the city are a tribute to Gaudi. His designs include Casta Batllo, La Pedrera, Park Guell, and Sagrada Familia. Despite this, Paris remains the top destination to see some of the finest architectural pieces and monuments in the world.
Art and Museum
The Louvre is a global phenomenon that conjures splendor and romance. It is lined with a popular glass pyramid right in the middle and is home to the famous Mona Lisa and an impressive number of significant art pieces. This museum opens its doors all year round and offers as well night tours if you are looking to have a splendid night out in an amazing city like Paris.
This is not the only art repository in the city. There is the impressive Musee Marmottan-Claude Monet in a Second Empire Villa. It is festooned with beautiful Empire furniture and the biggest collection of arts by the legendary Claude Monet. There is also the Musee Bourdelle and Musee d’Orsay.
Barcelona is among the world’s oldest cities. It is filled with history as cataloged in its art centers and museums. These museums range from natural, and world history to those that are dedicated to some of the city’s illustrious personalities. Visitors can get more acquainted with one of the most famous artists in the world, Museo Picasso. There are the Museo Nacional d’Art de Catalunya and the country’s biggest cultural center, Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona. Still, the city of Paris comes top for having a more magnificent and bubbling art scene.

Gastronomy
The many numbers of Michelin-Starred restaurants scattered around Paris emphasize the city’s excellent cuisine. Visitors will observe that menus are diverse from different parts of the world as the city has a strong multicultural setup. They will find some of the tastiest cheeses, patisserie, pates, bread, and the softest of wines. It will thrill visitors that the French capital has more than 70 Michelin-star restaurants, and at least ten of them have three stars.
Barcelona’s Catalan cuisine is made of bread, vegetables, olive oil, and cereals. What makes them special, however, is the fresh seafood that can be found anywhere in the city. In every menu dish, you will most likely see seafood ingredients. Their chorizo and meat dishes are excellent as well. But if we must compare the gastronomy of both cities, Paris again wins the duel.

Film, Musical, and Theater Culture
The not-so-simple French culture will be incomplete without its not-so-simple developments in music, film, and theater. Many places of such interest in the city double as an attractive sight like the Palais Garnier. There, large performances of symphony, ballet, and opera are held and appreciated by the popular Chagall painting right on the ceiling of the Opera Room.
Lovers of cinema will love to see the Cinematheque Francaise that is home to one of the world’s most massive film archives. There they can check out the art and films that help transform French culture as we know it to be today.
Barcelona has a buzzing film and theater scenes too, but they are not as eventful and impactful on the scales that the Parisian one has reached. Most cinema buffs who are well-traveled would rather prefer to visit Paris than Barcelona for a special fete of the theatre culture.
Fancy Shopping
Tourists are known to visit major cities just for fancy shopping. That sounds very much like fun, especially if it is in Paris. Malls there are large, and shopping has become somewhat of a culture. While shopping in Barcelona is cheaper, visitors do not need to break the banks to get the best in Paris. The city can be enjoyed even on a budget as long as you get the right information.
For example, bi-annual sales do take place in August. This is for off-season collections, while the last products from winter sales have reduced prices in January. Shopping in the French capital is beyond areas and streets and malls. There are 8 super shopping spots for the obsessed shopper, and the area around Ru du Bac, Bon Marche, and Boulevard Saint Germain offer the finest shopping experience.
Fashion is not entirely lost in an interesting place like Barcelona. You can still get the best of premium fashion and famous brand products, but Paris is just special. The Spanish city hosts world-famous designers and brands like El Delgado Buil, Zara, Custo, etc. Even small boutiques and shops sell these brands. But you have to respect the culture in Barcelona. Local fashion is huge with locals, and their quality is great too.

Paris Vs Barcelona – Summary
The city of Barcelona has a vibrant scenery, an interesting social, and rich culture. Paris, on the other hand, is known for its luxury, flair, romantic escapade, and intimate experiences with its iconic spots. Visitors are more likely to prefer the French city ahead of its Spanish counterpart regarding cuisine, sights, and every other thing that makes one’s holiday gratifying. That is why Paris takes home the prize.
